Name Ten: start with two people generating a list of ten items that they have in common. Keep mixing groups and adding people to smaller groups until the entire group has to find ten items that they have in common!
Post-It Talk: A silent “conversation” among the students in the room. It often is used at the beginning of units but it can be used anytime – especially if you have wall space and want to use it as a formative assessment tool. Te first time around, students post their reactions to the theme. Then, they post questions and in the third round, they react to questions, or ask new questions, etc. We can open for discussion then, or use this strategies during a span of a couple of days.
